Zoku Thermae Romae Sequel Manga Resumes on Tuesday
Get ready to dive back into the world of ancient Rome and modern-day Japan, as the official website for Mari Yamazaki’s Thermae Romae sequel manga, Zoku Thermae Romae (Thermae Romae Redux), announced on July 8 that its seventh chapter will publish on Tuesday, marking the sequel’s return from its hiatus. Remember, the manga announced on April 9 that it would be going on break until summer.
For those who are new to the series, Lucius is a bath designer in ancient Rome who accidentally travels back in time to present-day Japan, where he discovers the wonders of Japanese bath culture. And now, after a brief hiatus, Lucius is back to his time-traveling shenanigans!
Yamazaki launched the manga on February 6 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service, and Shueisha published the first compiled volume on April 4. The original essay manga was launched in 2008 and ended in March 2013, inspiring a three-episode anime in 2012 and two live-action films starring Hiroshi Abe and Aya Ueto. Yen Press publishes the manga in North America, while Discotek licensed the anime in North America.
But that’s not all! A new anime titled Thermae Romae Novae debuted on Netflix in March 2022, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Lucius next!
