Sugisaki initially launched the D.N.Angel manga in Monthly Asuka in 1997, but it went on hiatus in 2005 and resumed in May 2018. The manga concluded in January 2021.
The story follows 14-year-old Daisuke Niwa, who tries to confess his love to his crush but fails. Instead, whenever he thinks of her, he transforms into the legendary phantom thief known as Dark Mousy.
A television anime adaptation of D.N.Angel was produced by studio Xebec in 2003, and A.D. Vision and Discotek Media released it in North America.
Sugisaki’s other notable works include Brain Powered, Rizelmine, and The Candidate for Goddess, which have been released in English by publishers such as Tokyopop and Viz Media. Brain Powered and The Candidate for Goddess have also inspired anime adaptations.
