The horror fans, rejoice! Production I.G revealed the English voice cast for the anime of Junji Ito’s iconic Uzumaki horror manga at the “Production I.G x WIT x Signal.MD” panel at Anime Expo 2024. The terrifying tale of a town plagued by spiral madness is set to send chills down your spine later this year!

The Japan Times newspaper recently spoke with Junji Ito himself, revealing that the anime is scheduled to premiere this year. But that’s not all – Adult Swim has already shared a spine-tingling trailer for the anime on July 22, giving fans a glimpse into the mind-blowing world of Uzumaki!

A bit of context: the anime was originally slated for 2020, then delayed to 2021, and later pushed back again in 2022. But patience will pay off, as this long-awaited mini-series promises to deliver a mesmerizing and unsettling ride.

Behind the scenes, Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushi-Shi) is at the helm, directing this mini-series at Studio Drive and Studio Akatsuki. Production I.G USA and Adult Swim are co-producing, with the legendary composer Colin Stetson (Hereditary) scoring the music. Are you ready for the thrill ride of your life?

For the uninitiated, the 1998-1999 manga tells the tale of a town where bizarre occurrences revolving around spiral shapes begin to take over one by one. If you haven’t read it, buckle up and prepare for a descent into madness!

The Uzumaki manga also inspired a live-action horror film in 2000, starring Eriko Hatsune and Fan Fhi.
