Tentai Books, light novel publisher, to shut down.
Bid Farewell to Tentai Books: The Light Novel Localizer Shuts Down!
Tentai Books, a pioneering light novel localizer and publisher, has announced its decision to shut down over the next few months. The company’s owner, Alejandro De Vicente, also known as Alex, revealed that he is in the process of negotiating license transfers to another company. Although the website will remain active, customers can still access their digital products, all sales will come to a halt in August/September. And, as a gesture of goodwill, customers with pending physical orders will receive a full refund!
But, don’t be too sad, fans! The second volume of Sister Kiss will still be released, and it’s been delayed by a couple of days due to some “emergency changes in the script.” You can get the latest scoop on the release date from the company’s Discord server.
Earlier this year, Tentai Books had announced that it had secured the rights to all remaining volumes of Sister Kiss and Toxic Girlfriend. The second volume of Toxic Girlfriend was slated for an August release, while the second volume of Sister Kiss was set to hit shelves on July 31. The company had also promised to maintain a monthly release schedule.
But, don’t worry, folks! The company’s owner, De Vicente, has been busy setting up a new Discord server after his previous one was compromised. So, you can still keep up with the latest updates and behind-the-scenes peeks into the world of light novels!
Founded in 2020, Tentai Books has been a trailblazer in the light novel localizing and publishing industry, with a diverse portfolio of titles including There’s no way a side character like me could be popular, right?, Welcome to the Diner of the Exiled!, and World Teacher.
