“Sousou no Frieren” Animated Series Gets Second Season Confirmed
Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) celebrated its first anniversary with a stage greeting event, announcing a second anime season. The teaser visual (pictured) and announcement promo were revealed, with Madhouse, the studio behind the first season, returning to produce the second.
The first season premiered on September 29 last year and concluded on March 22, adapting the first 60 chapters of the manga. Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Disney+ streamed the anime, while Muse Asia broadcast it in Southeast Asia.
The anime series is based on Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe’s fantasy adventure manga, which has sold 22 million copies worldwide. A prequel light novel was also released, featuring illustrations by Abe and sold 100,000 copies.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English and has released several volumes. The manga has received numerous awards and nominations, including the New Work Prize at the 25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award.
