The September issue of Akita Shoten‘s Champion RED magazine has some exciting news for Saint Seiya fans! The Saint Seiya: Kaiō Saiki – Rerise of Poseidon manga spinoff, written by Tsunaki Suda and based on the original Saint Seiya series by Masami Kurumada, will be switching to a bimonthly publishing schedule starting with the December issue, which ships in October.

The story takes a thrilling turn when a new threat emerges while Athena’s warriors are busy battling Hades. To counter this new threat, Poseidon, the emperor of the sea, awakens from his slumber. This is a must-read for fans of the iconic series!

Suda launched the series in Akita Shoten‘s Champion RED magazine in September 2022.

The original Saint Seiya manga, created by Kurumada, was a massive hit, with over 35 million copies in print. The series has inspired numerous television anime, original video anime projects, anime films, and spinoff manga. The franchise has also spawned several anime adaptations, including Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō, which has its own anime series.

Viz Media has published the original manga in English under the title Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. ADV Films released Toei Animation’s anime adaptation with an English dub under the title Knights of the Zodiac, and later released it unedited under the title Saint Seiya. New Video Group also released the series on DVD.

Recently, the CG anime remake Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya debuted worldwide in July 2019, followed by Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac – Battle for Sanctuary – in July 2021 and Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac – Battle for Sanctuary – Part 2 in April 2023. A live-action film, simply titled Knights of the Zodiac, also hit theaters in 2023.
