Naruto’s creator astonished he kept to a weekly manga schedule.
Masashi Kishimoto: The Lucky Mangaka Who Never Had to Deal with a Weekly Schedule!
Fasten your seatbelts, ninjas! Masashi Kishimoto, the legendary creator of Naruto, has returned to his shonen universe and is shaking things up for the next generation! While his former assistant, Mikio Ikemoto, has taken over art duties for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Kishimoto has been reminiscing about the good old days when Naruto first debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump. The Naruto franchise has recently turned its world upside down with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, and Kishimoto and Ikemoto are more than thrilled to dish out the details on the making of this new chapter in the series.
Studio Pierrot has confirmed that the anime adaptation is on an indefinite hiatus, but don’t worry, fans! The series will eventually return, taking viewers back to the early days of Naruto’s childhood. The production house has released four new episodes that explore Naruto’s early adventures, but these installments have been put on hold due to behind-the-scenes work. It seems they’re switching to a more seasonal schedule, and Kishimoto’s not the only one who’s experienced this kind of schedule.
The Freedom of a Monthly Schedule
In a recent press conference, Kishimoto confessed that he never had to deal with a monthly schedule during his time creating Naruto. He can’t help but envy the freedom he now has to think about the plot and art without the pressure of a weekly deadline. The original Naruto series dropped new chapters every week, just like other popular manga series like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen. However, with a monthly schedule, Kishimoto and Ikemoto have more time to craft their story and artwork in Two Blue Vortex.
Kishimoto wasted no time in shaking things up when he returned to the manga. In Naruto Next Generations, he introduced some major changes, including the death of Jigen and Kurama the Nine-Tailed Fox. With Two Blue Vortex, Boruto is on the run, dealing with the aftermath of Eida’s evil, brainwashing abilities. Once this sequel series hits the small screen, it’s sure to send shockwaves throughout the anime world.
