Mina’s MVP Moment Celebrated by My Hero Academia Creator in New Art

Kohei Horikoshi shares new My Hero Academia art of Mina Ashido and explains the origin of her ultimate attack.

My Hero Academia is still in the midst of its seventh season, with each member of Class 1-A joining the fight against All For One and Shigaraki. While the anime adaptation still has some major moments to cover, the series’ manga has already reached its conclusion. Thanks to this, creator Kohei Horikoshi now finds himself with a lot of time on his hands to focus on new art to reflect the latest episodes.

In the latest episode, Mina Ashido finally gets the spotlight, inspiring Horikoshi to share a new piece of art featuring the pink heroine, aptly dubbed “Pinky”.

Mina Ashido’s Ultimate Attack

In combat against the Sludge Villain, Mina displays her ability to wield her Quirk with her signature ultimate attack, “Acid Man”. Horikoshi breaks down the origins of the technique, crediting the band ACIDMAN as the inspiration behind Ashido’s special move, “I’ve loved listening to ACIDMAN’s music since high school, and it’s one of the pieces that has become a part of me.” Horikoshi shared these insights on Twitter, complete with a screenshot of Mina’s Acid Man formation.

Mina Ashido’s True Strength

While Mina can produce acid, her real strength lies in her heroic heart. In fighting against the Sludge Villain, Ashido states her desire to be a hero is to get closer to as many people as she can. Using “Acid Man”, we witness a brief glimpse of her power without her pink exterior, granting her the ability to take down the first villain of the series.

Fans have been eagerly watching Mina’s relationship develop with Eijiro Kirishima, aka Red Riot. While the duo has never had a romantic relationship in the series so far, it seems to be heading in that direction. Red Riot’s affirmation that Ashido has always been his hero further intensifies their bond.

My Hero Academia’s Anime Future

The seventh season has only four episodes left before concluding the current batch of episodes. Although the anime has yet to confirm an eighth season, it would make sense that there would be one more season to create the series finale seen in the manga. Additionally, My Hero Academia: You’re Next will hit North American theaters next month.
