Pony Canyon announced on Thursday that Hiroki Miyashita’s Uchūjin MūMū manga will be adapted into a television anime, set to premiere in 2025 under the English title Me and the Alien MuuMuu.

The anime features Momo Harumi in her debut role as Sakurako Umeyashiki, alongside Etsuko Kozakura as MuuMuu.

Pony Canyon describes the story:

MuuMuu, a cat-like alien from a distant galaxy, arrives on Earth with the mission of studying home appliance technology to recover what his species has lost. Meanwhile, Sakurako, a university student living an ordinary life, suddenly finds her world turned upside down when MuuMuu shows up! What begins as an unexpected cohabitation soon spirals into a whirlwind of chaotic events. The comedic chemistry between Sakurako and MuuMuu sparks an adventure full of wacky appliance-filled antics and hilarious cat-like humor.

The manga, created by Miyashita, started as a one-shot in Shonengahosha’s Young King Ours magazine in April 2019, before being serialized two months later. Shonengahosha published the manga’s seventh compiled volume this past May.

The manga and the alien character’s name seem to be a playful homage to , a unique paranormal-themed magazine referenced in works like Weathering With YouOccultic;Nine, and various other anime, manga, and games.

In addition to this, Miyashita and writer Takeshi Natsuhara co-created Yakuza Reincarnation (Ninkyō Tensei: Isekai no Yakuza Hime), a manga that launched in Shogakukan’s Sunday GX magazine in July 2019. Shogakukan released its 15th volume on August 19, while Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the English edition, with the 10th volume hitting shelves on July 30.
