Max Streams ‘The Boy and the Heron’ Film in U.S. on September 6, According to News
After setting the box office ablaze with an impressive opening weekend, The Boy and the Heron is now preparing to take flight on HBO Max in the United States on September 6! According to Variety, the film will have an exclusive streaming release on the popular platform.
Deadline reported back in March that the film would be streaming exclusively on Max, and we couldn’t be more excited! And, if that’s not enough, the rest of Studio Ghibli’s iconic catalogue will also be available on the platform in the United States.
But wait, there’s more! Globally outside of the US and Japan, the film will be available on Netflix, as part of a new deal between Netflix, Goodfellas, and GKIDS. And, as an added bonus, 22 more Studio Ghibli titles will continue to stream globally on Netflix as part of the deal.
GKIDS released The Boy and the Heron on July 9, in a 4K UHD/Blu-ray Disc combo pack, a Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack, and a limited-edition Steelbook (with 4K UHD and Blu-ray Disc) release. The film is also available for purchase on demand on all major digital platforms.
This critically-acclaimed film has already won numerous prestigious awards, including the Best Animated Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards ceremony! It’s no wonder why fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting its streaming release.
Don’t miss out! Mark your calendars for September 6 to catch The Boy and the Heron on HBO Max in the US, and globally on Netflix outside of the US and Japan.
