Summary
Mo Rao was born into a family of military doctors, and her parents had risked their lives to save Fu Ying’s grandmother. As a result, Fu Ying was compelled to marry Mo Rao by his grandmother. From the beginning, Mo Rao knew that Fu Ying’s heart belonged to another woman named Qu Ru. However, their marriage started off well, with Fu Ying being caring and attentive towards Mo Rao. They shared a strong bond, particularly in their intimate moments.
However, everything changed when Fu Ying declared one day, “Qu Ru has returned. Let’s get a divorce. I will transfer the promised property to your name.” Mo Rao pleaded, “Can’t we avoid a divorce? What if… I’m pregnant?” Coldly, Fu Ying replied, “Abort it! I don’t want any obstacles between Qu Ru and me. Besides, Qu Ru has leukemia, and miraculously, your bone marrow matches hers. If you’re willing to donate, I can promise you anything.” Mo Rao countered, “What if my condition is that we don’t get divorced?” Fu Ying’s eyes turned icy. “Mo Rao, don’t be too greedy. Even if I agree for Qu Ru’s sake, you know well that I don’t love you.” The words “I don’t love you” pierced Mo Rao’s heart like a knife. Her once gentle smile twisted, and she was no longer the compliant woman she used to be. “Fu Ying, this is the first time you have disgusted me. You accuse me of greed, but aren’t you just the same? You want me to divorce you so you can be with Qu Ru? Fine, I agree to that. But don’t dream that I’ll save her. Remember, in life, you can’t have the best of both worlds, just like you and me.” With those words, Mo Rao walked away. The suffocating feeling within Fu Ying drove him to madness.
When Mo Rao resurfaced, she had transformed into a dazzling star. She appeared before Fu Ying, holding hands with her new partner, while Fu Ying barely reacted and remarked, “Baby, didn’t you promise to love only me?” Mo Rao smiled faintly. “I’m sorry, ex-husband. I was mistaken. You were merely a substitute. I actually love someone else.”
