The story follows 74-year-old Mami Inaba, who’s been running a diner in a sleepy port town for 20 years. But when a new apartment building with a shopping mall opens nearby, her business starts to struggle. That’s when she meets Hijiri Umakoshi, a famous actress who’s supposed to be missing, and together they hatch a plan to revive Mami’s diner.
Jun Yokoyama launched Mari-chan in October 2022, and the manga has since gained a loyal following. The third and final compiled book volume will be released in October, so fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the complete story.
Yokoyama is also known for his work on Taking Care of God, a manga adaptation of Liu Cixin‘s novel, which was published on Comic Hu from June 2022 to January 2023.
Get ready to say goodbye to Mari-chan, but don’t worry – you’ll have plenty of time to re-read your favorite chapters before the final curtain call!
