Hiroshi Kamiya, Mononoke anime film star, is recording for a ‘2nd Chapter’
Get ready for some major Mononoke news! Hiroshi Kamiya, the voice of the Medicine Seller in the Paper Umbrella anime film, dropped a bombshell at a stage greeting event: he’ll be recording a “second chapter” titled “Hinezumi” (which translates to “fire rat”)!
According to Japanese entertainment news website Cinema Today, this project is a sequel! But don’t get too excited just yet, as the anime’s official website and social media haven’t confirmed the news… yet!
It’s worth noting that the anime’s website did tease the phrase “Hinezumi” before the credits in the film, which opened in Japan last Friday. And if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll remember that the Medicine Seller’s role was initially supposed to be voiced by Takahiro Sakurai, but he stepped down and Hiroshi Kamiya took over.
The Paper Umbrella anime film, which features the return of director Kenji Nakamura and production by Twin Engine, is a spinoff of the Mononoke anime series that aired back in 2007. And did you know that the series has five arcs, with the last one titled “Bakeneko”?
The anime is currently available on streaming services like The Roku Channel and Netflix, and if you’re a fan of Japanese horror anime, you might want to give it a try!
