The story follows Ichiyō, a youth on a mission to capture the gods who have fled and scattered throughout a mystical realm. With the help of Tenkō, a subordinate god, Ichiyō sets out to defeat the four evil gods who hold the key to the realm’s downfall.

The anime is directed by Junichi Yamamoto, known for his work on Armor Shop for Ladies & Gentlemen, More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers, and Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion. The series is produced by Typhoon Graphics, with Yū Murai handling the series scripts and Masaki Satō designing the characters.

Takayama’s Haigakura manga has been serialized in Ichijinsha‘s Zero-Sum Ward magazine since 2008 and has also been published in Zero-Sum Online. The manga has seen significant success, with over 1.3 million copies in circulation (including digital copies) and 16 volumes published so far.

Takayama’s Amatsuki manga also inspired a television anime in 2008.
