The Silver Phantom will be a groundbreaking Virtual Reality experience in the world of Mobile Suit Gundam, unlike any other film in the franchise.

Although the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise premiered in the 1970s, it has continued to thrive, generating significant revenue for Bandai Namco. The secret to its enduring success lies in its ability to introduce new stories that explore different realities and timelines, set against the backdrop of its iconic space-faring mechs. The upcoming Silver Phantom is no exception, as it will be presented in Virtual Reality, allowing viewers to take on the role of the protagonist.

The film is set to take place in the Universal Century 0096 timeline, which is the same universe that introduced fans to Amuro and Char. Interestingly, this is not the only project scheduled to debut this year that explores this timeline. Gundam: Requiem For Vengeance will be released on Netflix on October 17th, offering a fresh perspective on the story, viewed through the eyes of those fighting against Amuro as part of the Principality of Zeon.

Silver Phantom’s Cast

The virtual reality film, Silver Phantom, will be available on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 on October 3rd. The current Japanese cast includes:

According to Bandai Namco Filmworks, the story follows Argent Kiel, an unofficial mercenary organization that takes on a mission to assassinate a high-ranking Earth Federation official, Azami Meghigne. Just before the mission, their fleet is attacked by the Earth Federation Forces’ Jegan squadron, and in the chaos, a silver Gundam is released into space.
