Gundam Seed Freedom Film Gets Special Editions with Over 500 Cuts
Get ready to join the epic battle! The official website for the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed projects has announced that special editions of the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM film will be screened in theaters for a limited time!
In two separate 14-day runs, the special editions will feature over 500 cuts of updated footage! That’s a whole lot of Gundam action!
During the first run, attendees will receive an original mini clear file folder featuring an animation sketch used for an updated cut! That’s a sweet bonus for Gundam fans!
Director Mitsuo Fukuda explained that due to time, the staff members couldn’t complete every section to their satisfaction in the version that opened in theaters on January 26. With the special editions, they updated those cuts and refined parts that felt off after screenings. Fukuda added, “I think we can call this the complete edition of Seed FREEDOM.”
And if you’re in Tokyo, don’t miss the special screening at Shinjuku Piccadilly theater on September 20, featuring Fukuda and the cast!
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM opened in Japan on January 26 and debuted at #1 in the Japanese box office! The film is the highest-earning Gundam film in Japan ever.
Fathom Events and Bandai Namco Filmworks screened the film in the United States and Canada on May 7-8, with subtitles on May 7 and an English dub on May 8. And if you’re in the US, don’t miss the Netflix premiere on September 1!
With the special editions, Mitsuo Fukuda and his team have brought the complete vision to life. Don’t miss this epic battle in theaters!
