Fujifabric’s Rock Band Activity Suspended in February 2025, No Further Updates Expected
It’s with a heavy heart that Japanese rock band Fujifabric announced they’ll be suspending their activities in February 2025 after keyboardist Daisuke Kanazawa (center in image) shared his decision to leave the band with his fellow members. This announcement comes during their 20th anniversary celebration, with the band’s 12th album PORTRAIT released in 2023 still fresh in their fans’ minds.
According to the band, Kanazawa informed them he’d pour his heart and soul into the album and the 20th-anniversary concert, and then depart from the group after. Despite discussions with the band and their staff, Kanazawa remained resolute in his decision, believing he’s given everything to the band over the past two decades.
The band extended their apologies to fans for the sudden announcement, while also thanking them for their unwavering support. They also expressed gratitude towards the media and other artists who have helped them numerous times. The band will focus on completing their remaining scheduled live performances, including their 20th-anniversary concert “THE BEST MOMENT” at the Tokyo Garden Theater on August 4 and the joint concert “Non-Fiction” with Quruli and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION at the Osaka-Jo Hall on November 10.
Fujifabric was formed by the late vocalist Masahiko Shimura in 2000 and made their major debut in 2004 with the single “Sakura no Kisetsu.” After Shimura’s passing in 2009, the remaining members decided to continue the band’s activities in 2011.
The band has performed theme songs for numerous anime series, including Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, Blue Spring Ride, and Magi: Adventure of Sinbad. They most recently performed the opening theme song for My New Boss Is Goofy titled “Planetaria.”
