Famicom Detective Club series gets new game, The Smiling Man, for Nintendo Switch.
Get Ready for a Blast from the Past! Nintendo Announces First New Game in Famicom Detective Club Series in 35 Years!
Nintendo is taking you back in time with the latest addition to their beloved Famicom Detective Club series – Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club! This eagerly anticipated game will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch on August 29.
Joy of joys! Producers at Nintendo have graciously gifted us with a sneak peek video featuring none other than the esteemed Yoshio Sakamoto, producer and designer of the original games:
This historic release marks a new chapter in the series, with an astonishing 35-year gap since the originals’ release on Famicom. The story is as chilling as it is captivating:
In Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, a student has been found dead with an eerie smiling face drawn on the paper bag covering his head. This harrowing scene bears an unsettling resemblance to a string of unsolved murders 18 years ago, as well as Emio (the Smiling Man), a killer shrouded in legend with a twisted gift – granting “a smile that will last forever.”
Nintendo has already given the retro gaming world a treat by remaking both original Famicom Detective Club games for Switch last May. Now, it’s time for a new generation to experience the gripping mysteries of this iconic series.
The original games shipped back in 1988 and 1989 on the Famicom Disk System, never seeing the light of day outside Japan. The remakes were the first-ever English releases for these classics.
Get ready to unravel the darkest secrets and confront the most unsettling culprits as Nintendo takes the plunge into the uncharted territory of retro gaming.
