Dragon Ball reveals new cover art by Rookies creator
Dragon Ball gets a fresh makeover from Rookies creator Masanori Morita
Dragon Ball, one of the most beloved and iconic manga series of all time, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with a brand new, unique take on one of its original cover arts? This October, Dragon Ball will be hosting a special art exhibition in Japan, featuring all 42 covers of the volumes, reimagined by some of Shonen Jump’s most talented creators.
The exhibition will include a new take on Dragon Ball Volume 24, designed by Masanori Morita, the creator behind popular series such as Rookies and Rokudenashi Blues. Check out this stunning piece below:

What’s Next for Dragon Ball’s 40th Anniversary?
This isn’t the only exciting development for Dragon Ball‘s 40th anniversary. A brand new anime series, Dragon Ball Daima, is set to debut later this Fall, although a concrete release date has yet to be confirmed. The late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama helped craft the original main story and character designs for the new series, which will be directed by Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki, with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru adapting Toriyama’s designs for animation and Yuuko Kakihara supervising and writing the scripts.
Masako Nozawa is set to return as the voice of Kid Goku, and she is currently the only confirmed member of the voice cast announced so far. Akira Toriyama previously teased the original story for Dragon Ball Daima as such before his passing, saying, “Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world! It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world. Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Power Pole to fight, something not seen in a long time.”
