Kadokawa announced exciting updates for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Yuji Iwahara’s manga, Clevatess – Majū no Ō to Akago to Shikabane no Yūsha (Clevatess – The King of Magical Beasts, the Baby, and the Corpse Hero), on Thursday. The reveal included a new cast member, a striking key visual, and confirmation of its 2025 premiere.

Saya Aizawa joins the cast as Luna, the enigmatic baby central to the story.

The upcoming anime boasts an impressive cast, with Haruka Shiraishi as the determined Alicia, Mutsumi Tamura as the loyal Clen, and Yūichi Nakamura as the enigmatic lord of magical beasts, Clevatess.

Leading the creative team is Kiyotaka Taguchi (kaiju designer for SSSS.Dynazenon film), who directs the series at Lay-duce. Keigo Koyanagi (Brave Bang Bravern!The Rising of The Shield Hero) handles the series scripts, while Souichirou Sako (Buddy DaddiesMagi: Adventure of Sinbad) crafts the character designs. Nobuaki Nobusawa (Mr. Villain’s Day OffPolice in a PodSteins;Gate 0) delivers the musical score to set the perfect tone for this epic tale.

The story follows Alicia, a young woman who has dreamed of becoming a hero since childhood. When the king names her one of 13 legendary heroes tasked with defeating the fearsome Clevatess, the lord of magical beasts, Alicia sets out with her comrades, armed with legendary swords. But the quest takes a dark turn when the actions of these heroes threaten to unleash a catastrophe that could annihilate all of humanity. Surprisingly, the world’s last hope rests with a baby entrusted to none other than Clevatess himself.

Created by Yuji Iwahara, known for Darker than Black and King of Thorn, the manga debuted on the LINE Manga app in August 2020. Its first physical volume launched simultaneously, with the series’ eighth digital volume released on April 15.

Kadokawa launched serialization of the manga on its Comic Alive+ website on April 24, breathing new life into the series. To celebrate, Kadokawa is releasing a refreshed edition of the manga’s compiled volumes. The highly anticipated fifth volume hit shelves on Thursday, offering fans another chance to dive into this thrilling saga.
