Magic Knight Rayearth follows the epic journey of Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, three high school girls who are whisked away to the fantastical world of Cephiro after a magical encounter on Tokyo Tower. As they transform into Magic Knights, they must join forces to overcome treacherous obstacles and save Princess Emeraude from the clutches of the evil Zagato.

But what’s the back story behind this legendary franchise? First serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine, CLAMP’s original manga debuted in 1993 and ran for six volumes until 1996. The manga sparked two televised anime seasons, a trio of OVAs, and even a range of music CDs. Since then, various companies have licensed the anime and released it across the globe – including Media Blasters and Discotek Media, who both brought the show to the States.
