ANN’s coverage of Anime Expo 2024, sponsored by Yen Press and Ize Press, highlighted the exciting announcement from CloverWorks. At the industry panel, director Atsushi Nishigori (known for The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX) teased ‘Grotesque,’ a new animated film slated for release in 2025. The panel premiered a tantalizing teaser video and promised further details and videos to come.

The film is a collaboration under JOEN, jointly established by Sony’s Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio (a sister company of Production I.G), and publisher Shueisha. Yūichi Fukushima from CloverWorks and Tetsuya Nakatake from Wit Studio serve as the representative directors of JOEN.
